Music graduates from North Central College go on to become successful teachers, performers, and professionals in various areas of music and related fields. In recent years, our alums have:
Attended graduate school at Indiana University, Boston Conservatory, University of Denver, Washington University, University of Wisconsin, Madison, Northern Illinois University, University of Kansas, and North Park University, majoring in music performance, music education, jazz studies, musicology, choral conducting, and music library science.
Secured teaching positions at the high school, middle school, or elementary levels in Indian Prarie School District #204 [home of Grammy Signature Schools Waubonsie Valley and Neuqua Valley High Schools]; Naperville Community United School Disctrict #203; schools in Schaumburg, Franklin Park, Oswego, Plainfield, and Chicago as well as the mid-state districts of Paxton and Gibson City and schools in Wisconsin and Colorado, among others.
Our Music Education alums have won teaching awards, such as Nicholas Janssen, '05 (Outstanding Early Educator, CUSD #203), and Mark Myers (Most Influential Educator, IPSD #204), and many hold leadership positions in professional organizations or are on the conducting staff of premier choral organizations, such as Amanda Block, '09 (Young Naperville Singers) and Megan Drahos, '10 (Anima).
Become successful performers in New York City, such as alumna Lucia Spina (Legally Blonde, Les Miserables, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on Broadway and Silence! The Musical, off-Broadway, and various revues and cabaret shows) or around the world, such as pianist Jakob Rojec of our Jazz Studies program and vocalist Rebekah Ankrom, currently singing and conducting in Germany.
