Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts
Ramona M. Wis holds the Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts endowed chair at North Central College. She was named the chair's first recipient in 2002. She is a professor and the chair of music.
Wis earned a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Illinois, a master of music degree from Northern Illinois University and doctorate in music education from Northwestern University. A member of the faculty since 1994, she founded the Women's Chorale and Women's Chamber ensembles and is planning a tour for the Women's Chorale in June 2009 with performances in Paris, Munich, Salzburg and Vienna.
She is active as a festival conductor, clinician, writer and public speaker, specifically in the areas of leadership and rehearsal techniques, and recently published a book, Conductor as Leader: Principles of Leadership Applied to Life on the Podium.
The Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts chair is endowed by Mimi Flickinger '55 Rolland, a former trustee. She majored in education, loved music and the arts, and was a teacher and active community service volunteer.
