Nobody ever said that this sport was easy. Nobody said that it wouldn't take dedication, hard work, and drive. But, it is something that everyone one of us is unbelievable passionate about. This weekend, NCC Track and Field intends on proving just how passionate we are about this sport when we defend our Conference Championship!
Last trimester, during cross country season, I was able to experience something that I never had experienced before. Yes, I was able to run at the National meet, we were able to finish 16th in the nation when the rankings didn't think we would even make it there. This was amazing! But more importantly, I wasn't just a part of a team...I was part of a family. The drive that everyone had to work towards a common goal was incredible. Never once did we run for ourselves. Every time we stepped on that line it was for the team. That is where our success came from.
This weekend, we will do the same. The perception is that track is a "individual sport." It is only that way when you make it that way. At NCC, track is a TEAM sport. Every person passed, every millisecond dropped, every inch farther and higher is for the good of the team. This weekend will be a test of how great this team really is.
And from my perspective, I think this team is going to be one of the best that NCC has ever seen.
