Hi Readers!
It is FINALLY the end of week 9! The last two weeks have been jam-packed with class, lesson planning, and homework! As difficult as the last two weeks have been, I think I have learned the most. Balance, organization, patience, tolerance, team work, and collaboration are just a few examples of qualities that I have improved over the last few weeks. I have come to the conclusion that the education department at NCC is not only preparing me in terms of educational content and the process of designing lesson plans, but also to cope with the stresses of being a new teacher. As education students, we're held to a high standard and nothing less than the best is accepted. The best part of my methods classes is that they are taken in a pair, as in science and social studies. This means that everyone in science is in social studies with me. We have bonded as a group of students, and help each other through everything! Our small group (about 17) is definitely unique, just ask our professors!
This week I had the opportunity to view the artwork and various textiles from a local artist. She displayed her collection in the Meiley-Swallow Gallery and offered a reception earlier this week. The Indian art was incredible!! I have never seen anything like it. My friend and classmate, Cory, was also there. We were exploring the various saris when the artist offered to wrap me in one. I couldn't decline! It was an awesome experience, and definitely allowed me to put on a new "pair of shoes". The picture is me on the left, and Cory on the right. Thank you, Dr. Keiser, for the photo!
I think it is time to take a moment and relax. Week 10 will prove to be filled with studying and final preparation.
Good luck, and have fun this weekend! The Wedding Singer is at 7:30 tonight and tomorrow. The Relay for Life fundraiser dance is in upper WAC at 7:30 tonight, and tomorrow is dinner and a movie in LAC.
Have a great weekend!
