North Central College - Naperville, IL

Starting off the Year

Hi, Readers!

I hope that Week 1 is going well for everyone.  I know that it has been a stressful few days for me, but I’m excited to get my classes rolling.

My class load is going to be a definite challenge with Reading Methods, Reading Practicum, Language and Linguistics, and Classroom Management, but I am fully prepared for the late nights and hard work!

Before all of the work started, I was able to have tons of fun with my residents and friends that were on campus early.

On Labor Day, Hal (the President, for those of you who do not know) was the Grand Marshal for the Naperville Labor Day Parade!  To excite the crowd, the Legacy Committee and Women's Soccer Team passed out rally towels and T-shirts to kids, in hopes of turning the streets red.  After, we all got to walk in the parade alongside the NCC float.  The pictures above are of some of the participants, as well as a picture of me (Credit to Steve Woltmann, our awesome photographer who always seems to catch me at my finest moments. Haha!).  The parade was a blast, and the start to a long, but exciting week.

Two days later, most of my residents moved in (shout out to Res/Rec 4S!).  Everyone is wonderful and I know that it’s going to be an awesome year.  Later in the week we played touch football and have been spending tons of time in the Rec center, as well as just hanging out.

Now that classes are started, I am preparing to start my Reading Practicum tomorrow.  I’ll be with a 5th grade accelerated class about 25 minutes away from campus.  I can’t wait!  This experience includes five lessons, so I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on how those go over.

Have a wonderful week, and remember to smile!
