Lauren launched her career just two days after graduating, when she became controller for Quality Logo Products in Aurora, IL. She credits her North Central experience with jump-starting her career. While a student, she served as vice president of the Student Accounting Society, interned in the Sam’s Club management training program, competed with the College’s Enactus team, studied in Guatemala ... and completed the 150 credit hours required to sit for the CPA exam. Whew!

David Gray, assistant professor of accounting, and Gerald Hamsmith, professor of accounting emeritus, had their case study titled “Divisional Concerns at Patterson’s Fine Chocolates” published in the 2009 edition of Annual Advances in Business Cases. This journal is published by the Society for Case Research, which exists to promote the development of materials and methods for case-based instruction. MBAA (Midwest Business Administration Association) International includes academics and practitioners who are dedicated to the pursuit of business knowledge.

North Central College appointed three new full-time, tenure-track faculty for the 2009-2010 academic year. They are: •    Alberto Fonseca, assistant professor of Spanish. Previously a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Kansas and at Virginia Tech, Fonseca specializes in 19th and 20th century Latin American literature and instruction in Spanish at all levels. He holds a B. A. in literature from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, an M.A. in history from Virginia Tech and a Ph.D.
