Marcy Thomas was honored with the 2011 Outstanding Major in Studio Art Award and Katherine Hannan was named recipient of the Diane Duvigneaud Senior Art Award.

Marcy Thomas was honored with the 2011 Outstanding Major in Studio Art Award and Katherine Hannan was named recipient of the Diane Duvigneaud Senior Art Award during Honors Day May 17 at North Central College.

Thomas is a graduating senior double-majoring in studio art and art history. Hannan is a graduating senior double-majoring in studio art and corporate accounting.

“Organic Anomalies” showcases paintings, drawings, sculpture and mixed media that draw inspiration from the sublime potential of nature, which can often overwhelm or deviate from expectations of how it should act.

North Central College will showcase an exhibition Feb. 9 through April 4, featuring high-quality fine art by 18 artists nationwide to raise awareness of human rights issues.

The exhibit, titled “The Art of Influence: Breaking Criminal Traditions,” is free and open to the public in the College’s Schoenherr Gallery at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. An artist reception will be held in the gallery from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13; complimentary refreshments will be served.

North Central College has named Dr. Abiodun “GP” Goke-Pariola its next vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty.

North Central College has named Dr. Abiodun “GP” Goke-Pariola its next vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty.

Dr. Goke-Pariola will begin his new role at North Central College on July 1 after serving most recently as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina. He previously served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.
