Two students who will graduate from North Central College this year have been awarded prestigious Fulbright English Teaching Assistantships (ETA).

The latest Fulbright honors for Heidi Nelson ’15 of Carol Stream and Kristin Rose ’15 of Joliet are the 10th and 11th Fulbright awards earned by North Central College students and alumni. North Central College has been recognized as among the U.S. colleges and universities that produce the highest number of Fulbright recipients for 2014-2015 international exchanges.

North Central College presents “Dawn Over Dusk: Singapura,” a student art exhibit featuring the work of junior Grace Morris, who’s majoring in studio art, and junior Briana Tobin, majoring in theatrical design and technology and in religious studies.

North Central College will showcase the artwork of Chicago painter Brian Ritchard from April 10 through June 14.

Titled “Turbine Paintings Series,” the free exhibit will be on display in the College’s Schoenherr Gallery at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. The artist will greet visitors at a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 6; complimentary refreshments will be served.

North Central College presents the solo exhibition “The Anatomy of Emotion,” featuring the artwork of junior Lauren Denler through March 29.

In a collection of mixed media, ceramics and sculptures, “The Anatomy of Emotion” showcases Denler’s avid research and interest in the exploration of the human figure and the fragmented body. The free exhibit is on display through March 29 in the College’s Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St. An artist’s reception will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 13, in the gallery; complimentary refreshments will be served.

North Central College has expanded its commitment to sustainability by investing more than $200,000 to replace old fixtures with energy-efficient LED lighting.

North Central College has expanded its commitment to sustainability by investing more than $200,000 to replace old fixtures with energy-efficient LED lighting.

The most recent upgrades to lighting in the College’s geothermal-controlled, LEED-certified Residence Hall/Recreation Center and in the Harold and Eva White Activities Center are estimated to save the College an additional $35,000 annually in electricity costs. The projects are supported by a $67,989 grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation's Energy Efficiency Lighting Upgrade Program.
