Registration is underway for a variety of academic courses that most often can be applied toward graduation requirements at a student’s home institution. North Central College students may apply by Feb. 20 to present their original research at the College’s 16th annual Rall Symposium for Undergraduate Research, which will take place during Honors Day on Tuesday, May 14.

Kyle Andrews is an analyst in the chemistry lab at CSL Behring, a company that develops, manufactures and markets biotherapies used to treat serious and rare conditions. He has been accepted to the College of Pharmacy at Roosevelt University.

Veronika Gagovic '01

Veronika Gagovic, M.D., returned to campus to speak to College Scholars and their families. She recounted the challenges she faced during her undergraduate and medical education and encouraged students to persevere and enjoy the journey. After graduating from North Central in biochemistry, Gagovic attended Loyola University Medical School and completed her internal medicine residency at Indiana University–Indianapolis. After a training fellowship in Madison, WI, she will start a private practice in gastroenterology.

Anne Adamson '10

Anne Adamson was a guest speaker for North Central’s student-run Pre-Health Organization, which provides opportunities for its members to learn from and network with successful North Central alumni from a variety of health professions. Adamson shared her experiences as a second-year dental student at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, NY. She is a recipient of the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program, which provides tuition assistance and a stipend for up to four years. She also is a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy.

North Central College hosted chemistry students from Naperville North High School on a field trip to use the College’s spectroscopy equipment.

Chemistry students from Naperville North High School learned what it’s like to use sophisticated scientific instrumentation during a recent field trip to North Central College.

Sixteen Naperville North students worked with Jeff Bjorklund, North Central College professor of chemistry, during the Nov. 12 field trip. They learned how to use the College’s spectroscopy instruments to determine the chemical properties of samples they were provided.

North Central College ranks among the top 15 percent of private, nonprofit schools in the 2011-2012 survey by Payscale.com. The mid-career median salary for North Central College graduates is $81,300, ranking No. 39 out of 303 schools in the private, nonprofit category.
