Kyle Andrews is an analyst in the chemistry lab at CSL Behring, a company that develops, manufactures and markets biotherapies used to treat serious and rare conditions. He has been accepted to the College of Pharmacy at Roosevelt University.

Veronika Gagovic '01

Veronika Gagovic, M.D., returned to campus to speak to College Scholars and their families. She recounted the challenges she faced during her undergraduate and medical education and encouraged students to persevere and enjoy the journey. After graduating from North Central in biochemistry, Gagovic attended Loyola University Medical School and completed her internal medicine residency at Indiana University–Indianapolis. After a training fellowship in Madison, WI, she will start a private practice in gastroenterology.

Anne Adamson '10

Anne Adamson was a guest speaker for North Central’s student-run Pre-Health Organization, which provides opportunities for its members to learn from and network with successful North Central alumni from a variety of health professions. Adamson shared her experiences as a second-year dental student at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, NY. She is a recipient of the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program, which provides tuition assistance and a stipend for up to four years. She also is a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy.

North Central College shares science instruments with high school chemistry students

North Central College hosted chemistry students from Naperville North High School on a field trip to use the College’s spectroscopy equipment.

Chemistry students from Naperville North High School learned what it’s like to use sophisticated scientific instrumentation during a recent field trip to North Central College.

Sixteen Naperville North students worked with Jeff Bjorklund, North Central College professor of chemistry, during the Nov. 12 field trip. They learned how to use the College’s spectroscopy instruments to determine the chemical properties of samples they were provided.

Graduates of North Central College earn more income over their lifetimes than peers who graduate from most comparable schools, a new survey finds.

Graduates of North Central College earn more income over their lifetimes than peers who graduate from most comparable schools, a new survey finds.

North Central College ranks among the top 15 percent of private, nonprofit schools in the 2011-2012 survey by Payscale.com. The mid-career median salary for North Central College graduates is $81,300, ranking No. 39 out of 303 schools in the private, nonprofit category.

Becky chose to begin her journey to medical school and career quest as a pediatrician at North Central College. Pursuing a major in biochemistry is a good foundation and combines her dual interests in biology and chemistry.

“North Central’s science curriculum is known for its rigor. Labs can be challenging and time-consuming but very rewarding. You’re getting real lab experience here.”

She gained additional research experience through her minor in psychology, where she studied the effects of caffeine on introversion and extroversion with a psychology professor. Becky presented the study at the College’s Rall Symposium for Undergraduate Research.

Becky has gained administrative experience as vice president of the College’s Pre-Health Organization, helping organize events and opportunities for students pursuing careers in health.
