Ryan Jordan was honored with the 2011 Outstanding Major in East Asian Studies Award during Honors Day May 17 at North Central College.

Jordan began studying at North Central in 2010. He earned a three-year full-tuition scholarship to North Central College after completing an associate degree in East Asian Studies at the College of DuPage. His mother, Colette Jordan, was named the 2010 Outstanding Student at College of DuPage.

Perry Hamalis, North Central College Cecelia Schneller Mueller Professor of Religion and associate professor of religious studies, was awarded a 12-month Fulbright Teaching and Research Fellowship with the United Graduate School of Theology at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. His service as a Fulbright Fellow began in August 2015 and runs through July 2016.

Kamila Grzeskowiak ’16, daughter of Marta and Tomasz Grzeskowiak of Chicago, was awarded the Outstanding Major in East Asian Studies Award during Honors Day in May at North Central College.

Kamila, who plans to graduate from North Central College in 2016, is majoring in Japanese and East Asian Studies. She is a graduate of Whitney M. Young Magnet High School.

Talking with North Central College’s new vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty, Dr. Abiodun “G-P” Goke-Pariola, there are a few words you won’t hear—like “status quo.” He pursued the position as leader of academic affairs knowing that his challenge will be to elevate the reputation of the faculty and academic programs, which in quality far exceeds similar and better-known institutions. It’s a goal that excites him.

North Central College invites multicultural involvement on campus with a series of events celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.

North Central College’s multicultural life on campus is expanding this fall to incorporate a larger celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Though the College promotes many other Hispanic and Latino involvement opportunities throughout the academic year, Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 is devoted to a campus-wide celebration of various Hispanic cultures.

Kamila “Kima” Grzeskowiak ’16, daughter of Tomasz and Marta Grzeskowiak of Chicago, was awarded the Outstanding Major in East Asian Studies Award during Honors Day in May at North Central College.

Kima, who plans to graduate from North Central College in June 2016, is majoring in Japanese and in East Asian Studies with a focus on Japan. She is a graduate of Whitney M. Young Magnet High School. She is a member of the College’s Japan Club and has consistently earned honors on the College’s Dean’s List.
