Perez is majoring in physics. Enrolled in North Central’s 3-2 dual degree program in engineering, Perez will attend the University of Illinois to complete his electrical engineering degree from North Central and the University of Illinois.

The latest Fulbright honors for Heidi Nelson ’15 of Carol Stream and Kristin Rose ’15 of Joliet are the 10th and 11th Fulbright awards earned by North Central College students and alumni. North Central College has been recognized as among the U.S. colleges and universities that produce the highest number of Fulbright recipients for 2014-2015 international exchanges.

Two North Central College students are named Honorable Mention recipients by the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship program.

Two North Central College students, Kori Sye ’16 of Roselle, Ill., and Jack Ryan ’16 of Oswego, Ill., have been recognized by the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship program as 2015 Honorable Mention recipients. The Goldwater Scholarship is the highest national award for undergraduate science and mathematics students and aims to encourage research careers in mathematics, science and engineering.

North Central College congratulates the high school team winners of the sectional competition in the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge, held on the College’s campus March 19. Team winners were announced during an award ceremony in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall after students in 44 Illinois schools competed in a series of tests created and administered by WYSE. The top two or three teams in each division advanced to the Illinois WYSE challenge in April at the University of Illinois.

North Central College has expanded its commitment to sustainability by investing more than $200,000 to replace old fixtures with energy-efficient LED lighting.

North Central College has expanded its commitment to sustainability by investing more than $200,000 to replace old fixtures with energy-efficient LED lighting.

The most recent upgrades to lighting in the College’s geothermal-controlled, LEED-certified Residence Hall/Recreation Center and in the Harold and Eva White Activities Center are estimated to save the College an additional $35,000 annually in electricity costs. The projects are supported by a $67,989 grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation's Energy Efficiency Lighting Upgrade Program.

Each spring, North Central College hosts the sectional competition in the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge. Designed to present a challenge to the brightest high school students, this year’s contest will be held Thursday, March 19.
