Gacek is a graduating senior double-majoring in finance and economics. He has participated in North Central’s College Scholars Honors Program. While a student at North Central, he interned at Robert W. Baird & Co. in the Milwaukee area.

Honors Day 2016 celebrates student excellence

North Central College recognizes high-achieving students for academic and co-curricular excellence throughout their college careers on Honors Day.

Honors Day is an annual highlight at North Central College. The day publicly celebrates students and their excellence in the academic and cocurricular life of the College. Honors Day 2016 opened on May 17 with a keynote address by Dr. Julio J. Ramirez as part of North Central’s 19th annual Rall Symposium for Undergraduate Research.

North Central launches its own startup: new Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE)

The College’s new Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) isn’t just another business center.

“We’re dedicated to fostering a culture of innovation in every field, not just traditional business disciplines,” explains Martha Carney, the Center’s executive director. “We’re going to be integrated into every discipline—sports, arts, STEM, history, business, everything.”

North Central College’s Science Center reached a construction milestone with the placement of a ceremonial final beam in Topping-Out Celebration March 14.

North Central College’s Science Center reached new heights during its construction when the campus community celebrated the hoisting and placement of a ceremonial final steel beam during a Topping-Out Celebration March 14.

Traditional among ironworkers, the ceremony is sometimes called Capping Off, or Topping Off, or Topping Out. Regardless, said President Troy D. Hammond during his remarks, “It’s a significant construction milestone that we’ve reached only because of the dedication and hard work of many, many people.”

North Central accounting students begin new partnership with Center for Economic Progress

Eleven student volunteers, trained and certified through the IRS, help low-income individuals and families in Aurora file their tax returns.

For the seventh consecutive year, North Central College accounting and business students are volunteering to help low-income community members file tax returns. This year, they entered into a new partnership with the Center for Economic Progress in Aurora. This new site can host more volunteers and yield more returns—approximately 1,000 returns.

New Verandah course takes students behind the scenes at Chicago’s leading public relations firms, gives opportunities to network and explore career options.

“It’s all about finding a career that fits you,” said Skylar Krople ’17 after attending the Publicity Club of Chicago PR Career Day with her North Central College classmates. “I learned there are lots of opportunities to create whatever you want because the public relations industry is constantly changing.”
