Jordan Pilgrim earns Outstanding Major in Actuarial Science Award

Jordan Pilgrim received the Outstanding Major in Actuarial Science Award during the 2013 Honors Convocation at North Central College.

Jordan Pilgrim, son of David and Naddene Pilgrim of Fairbury, Ill., was awarded the Outstanding Major in Actuarial Science Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College.

A junior, Jordan has a triple major in actuarial science, economics and finance at North Central College. He is a graduate of Prairie Central High School.

Peter Mann earns Junior Scholar-Athlete Award

Accounting, finance major Peter Mann received the Junior Scholar-Athlete Award for highest GPA during the 2013 Honors Convocation at North Central College.

Peter Mann, son of John and Sharon Mann of Glenview, Ill., was awarded the Junior Scholar-Athlete Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College. The award recognizes the student-athlete in each class with the highest grade-point average.

A junior, Peter competes on the football team's defensive line and is majoring in accounting and in finance at North Central College. His name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List. He is a graduate of Glenbrook South High School.

Robert Dee, son of William and Diane Dee, of Oak Lawn, Ill., was awarded the Outstanding Major in Finance Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College.

A senior, Robert has a triple major in finance, economics and accounting at North Central College. He is a graduate of Oak Lawn Community High School.

Doh-Khul Kim, North Central College associate professor of economics and finance, co-authored a paper titled “The Effectiveness of Commodities in Hedging Inflation—Is It Still Valid During Low Inflationary Period?” which was published in the fall/winter edition of the Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives. His co-author is North Central graduate Eric McKee ’12, who triple-majored in actuarial science, finance and classical civilization.

Students majoring in business present at international conference

Six North Central College students author presentations about international relations and globalization at annual international conference.

North Central College students gave presentations at the 49th annual MBAA International Conference held Feb. 27-March 1 in Chicago.

Drawing some 800 participants from the United States and around the world, the conference and its presenters focused on different business disciplines, including marketing, finance, international business, legal studies, ethics, entrepreneurship and health management.

Two North Central College students have developed a mobile app for friends to share pictures of food they like.

Two North Central College students have developed a mobile app for friends to share pictures of food they like.

Entrepreneurs Jeremy Markham ’15 and Kyler Juckins ’15 are the creators of DinnDinn, a smart phone app for food lovers. DinnDinn works like a virtual refrigerator. Users upload photos of food, drinks and other items to their page and rate them. Their friends and followers, known as “taste buds,” can comment on the posts.
