North Central College is included in The Princeton Review’s college guide, “The Best 379 Colleges, 2015 Edition.” The guide surveys more than 130,000 college students nationwide to determine the top 15 percent of about 2,900 four-year institutions nationwide.

Jillian Laumbacher won two North Central College awards, the Outstanding Major in Economics and Outstanding Major in Global Studies.

Jillian Laumbacher, daughter of Edgar and Beverly Laumbacher of Crystal Lake, was recognized with two awards—Outstanding Major in Economics and Outstanding Major in Global Studies—during Honors Day May 13 at North Central College in Naperville.

A senior, Jillian is double majoring in economics and global studies with a concentration in international relations at North Central College. She is a graduate of Crystal Lake South High School.

Mark Zajac ’12 will head to Germany with a Fulbright

North Central College alumnus Mark Zajac receives Fulbright Teaching Assistant post to teach English and engage in cultural programs in Germany.

Mark Zajac ’12 has been named as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) to Germany, continuing North Central’s history of placing graduates in this prestigious program.

He is currently serving as a Dunn Fellow in Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn’s Chicago Office. While a student, he was a College Scholar, had triple majors in global studies: international business, German and Spanish, and a minor in Chinese. He studied abroad in Heidelberg, Germany, and Seville, Spain, to refine his language skills in German and Spanish.

North Central College presents the creative artwork of senior Ian Wright in a solo exhibit, April 8-May 4.

Titled “Kynjamyndir-Strange Pictures: Responding to Icelandic Landscape and Culture,” Wright’s exhibit will showcase charcoal on wood panel drawings, video art, sculpture and photography that capture the essence and beauty of Iceland’s volcanic environment.

Hundreds of North Central College students will study abroad, participate in service trips, enroll in Verandah courses and take advantage of other distinctive opportunities during D-Term.

D-Term is a three-week period between Thanksgiving and Christmas that offers students possibilities to engage in life-enriching experiences.

This year’s study abroad destinations include France, China, London, Argentina and Uruguay, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, Italy and Greece, Germany and Costa Rica.
