North Central College has named Dr. Abiodun “GP” Goke-Pariola its next vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty.

Dr. Goke-Pariola will begin his new role at North Central College on July 1 after serving most recently as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina. He previously served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.

North Central College welcomes Riad Ismat as scholar-in-residence for the 2014-2015 academic year. Ismat will serve as visiting professor of arts and letters. He will teach courses in playwriting, acting and directing, besides lecturing on Syria, Arabic literature and drama.

A new residence hall on North Central College’s 65-acre campus will offer desirable suite-style housing for upperclassmen.

A new residence hall on North Central College’s 65-acre campus will offer desirable suite-style housing for upperclassmen.

The 229-bed residence hall is being built directly south of Ward and Patterson halls and across from Merner Field House and Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. The five-story residence hall—the College’s first since the Residence Hall/Recreation Center opened in 2009—is scheduled for completion by August 2015.

“There’s so much buzz surrounding the Blackhawks,” says Armistead. “I’m excited to provide video content for such a highly respected and recognizable organization.”

Students in North Central College’s Digital Media Club will host a group art exhibit, titled “The Movement Exhibition,” Oct. 2-Nov. 2.

The free exhibit will showcase a variety of media, including digital illustrations, animations, paintings, drawings, photography and more. Open to the public, the exhibit will be on display Oct. 2 through Nov. 2 in the College’s Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St. Meet the artists during a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, in the gallery; light refreshments will be served.
