Rebecca Heinen ’15 of Sparta, Ill., a mathematics major, has been awarded a prestigious national honor as a 2014 Goldwater Scholar Honorable Mention. The Goldwater Scholar program is highly competitive and represents the highest national award given to undergraduates who plan to pursue careers in science and math research.

The program is called the Expository Engagement (E2) Math Circle, and it’s modeled after similar successful programs held across the country. The American Mathematical Association provided a $6,000 grant to fund the program.

North Central College announces site selection for new science center

The North Central College Board of Trustees has selected a location for a new science center.

During its annual fall meeting the North Central College Board of Trustees selected a location for a new science center that will create exciting new educational opportunities for students and transform the campus.

After careful consideration the Board has determined that the new science center will be located south of Van Buren Avenue between Loomis and Brainard streets, within the boundaries of the College and University District designated by the City of Naperville.

Total enrollment stands at 3,048 undergraduate and graduate students, eclipsing the 3,000 mark for the second straight year. The College welcomed 852 new full-time undergraduate students. Enrollment this fall includes a record number of international students and increased representation of out-of-state students and veterans.
