Oct. 11, 2010--North Central College's music education program and its student chapter of the National Association for Music Education (MENC) have been recognized by MENC with an award for outstanding growth.

In the announcement to the College, MENC's North Central president remarked, "Your dedication and commitment to the young students studying to be teachers is such a contribution to our profession. Your guidance and knowledge both inspire and mentor these young people."

Nicole Rivera gives presentations to educators

Nicole Rivera, adjunct instructor of psychology, presented two sessions at the Regional Office of Education #3 Professional Development Institute in Vandalia, Ill., on Oct. 8. The sessions focused on building successful collaborations to support inclusion and the inclusion of students with autism spectrum disorders in music education.

Wis, Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts, professor and chair of music, presented a workshop to an international audience of artistic directors during the Sister Singers Network conference in Chicago in July.
