June, 2010—A star-studded lineup of classical, jazz and contemporary artists fills the 2010-2011 Fine & Performing Arts Season at North Central College.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Frankie Valli, Blues Traveler, Ramsey Lewis, Rachel Barton Pine, the Vienna Boys Choir, David Sanborn and Del McCourey with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band are just a few highlights of North Central College’s most sensational season to date.

The 22nd annual Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp and "Hot Jazz-6 Cool Nites" concert series will be presented at North Central College.

May 11, 2010--The 22nd annual Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp and "Hot Jazz-6 Cool Nites" concert series will be presented at North Central College July 17-23. Both events take place during the same week and are jointly sponsored by the College's Jazz Studies Program.

War zone gets jazzed

Thanksgiving 2009 was a memorable occasion for Mitch Paliga, jazz saxophone instructor and a member of the jazz studies faculty at North Central. A professional saxophonist in the Lt. Dan Band—founded by actor Gary Sinise and music director Kimo Williams to entertain military troops—Paliga spent his Thanksgiving vacation performing at three military bases in Afghanistan. Conditions were primitive and entering an active war zone was challenging for the 12-member band.
