Registration is underway for a variety of undergraduate and graduate-level courses that often can be applied toward graduation requirements at a student’s home institution. Class sessions are offered in four- and eight-week terms, starting June 16. The second four-week term starts July 14.

North Central College is expanding services available to students affected by gender-based violence.

Cindy Washburn wants North Central College students to know about supportive services and intervention options available to those affected by gender-based violence.

As the College’s coordinator of a U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Campus Grant Program, Washburn knows that sexual assaults on college campuses nationwide too often go unreported. Some estimate that only 25 percent of physical assaults, 20 percent of rapes and 50 percent of stalking cases are reported.

The conference brought together professionals working in higher education, K-12 school teachers and nurses, as well as community health education professionals.

Total enrollment stands at 3,048 undergraduate and graduate students, eclipsing the 3,000 mark for the second straight year. The College welcomed 852 new full-time undergraduate students. Enrollment this fall includes a record number of international students and increased representation of out-of-state students and veterans.

North Central College students will discuss their scholarly work Aug. 1 during the poster session of the 2013 Summer Undergraduate Research Colloquium (SURC).

The SURC poster session takes place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 in Smith Hall of Old Main, 30 N. Brainard St. (The session previously was scheduled to take place in Heininger Auditorium at the Larrance Academic Center). Most of the 40 students who participated in the 2013 SURC will be present.
