The campus community is invited to join Stephen Maynard Caliendo, professor of political science, and his IDS 125 Music & Politics seminar for a special appearance by Chicago-based hip-hop recording artist FM Supreme from 2 to 3:45 p.m. Thursday, April 28, in Koten Chapel. The free event will feature a conversation between FM Supreme and Caliendo that will include her thoughts about women in hip-hop, the importance of education, the influence of spirituality in her music and life, and the ways music can be an agent for social change. There will be a Q&A and performance.



Political science professor awarded grant to research race issues

The National Science Fondation awarded Stephen Maynard Caliendo, associate professor of at North Central College, and his partner a grant for a study on race.

Stephen Maynard Caliendo, associate professor of political science at North Central College, and Charlton McIlwain of New York University have been awarded a $21,000 grant by Time-Sharing Experiments for the Social Sciences (TESS) and funded by National Science Foundation for their project, “The Effects of Racial and Racist Appeals on White Voters.”
