Jessica Brewster of Sleepy Hollow was awarded the 2012 Diane Duvigneaud Senior Art Award at North Central College.

Jessica Brewster of Sleepy Hollow, Ill., was awarded the 2012 Diane Duvigneaud Senior Art Award during Honors Day May 15 at North Central College. This award is presented to a North Central student who demonstrates exceptional growth and creativity in art.

Brewster is a senior majoring in studio art with minors in dance and English at North Central College. She is the daughter of Philip and Elizabeth Brewster and a 2008 graduate of St. Edward Central Catholic High School in Elgin.

Senior lands part in professional “Cats”

Tommy Rivera-Vega ’11 has landed the part of Rum Tum Tugger in a professional production of “Cats” opening Nov. 21 in Chicago’s Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre.

North Central College senior Tommy Rivera-Vega has landed the key part of Rum Tum Tugger in a professional production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats” in the award-winning Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre at Chicago’s No Exit Café. The show runs Nov. 21-Jan. 2.

Performances are free and open to the public and begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 14, and Saturday, May 15, in Madden Theatre at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville. Seven seniors who will graduate in June with minors in dance will be featured in the performances. Students have choreographed some of their own performances.

North Central College will host a month-long Flamenco Festival in February that showcases music and dance from Spanish culture.

Jan. 28, 2010--North Central College will host a month-long Flamenco Festival in February that showcases the emotive, rhythmic music and dance from Spanish culture. Several events are planned--including performances, dance classes, films, a lecture and photography exhibit. All are open to the public and most are free.
