Senior’s research chosen for conference presentation, wins award

Project by North Central College psychology major Kristen Soforic ’13 is accepted for presentation at regional conference, wins research award.

Kristen Soforic ’13, a psychology major at North Central College, was recently recognized for her academic work. Her research project, titled “The Effect of Induced Hypocrisy on Texting While Driving,” was accepted for presentation at the 2013 Midwestern Psychological Association (MPA) conference in May in Chicago. She co-authored the project with North Central 2012 graduate Nicholas Petkunas, also a psychology major.

Research paper by North Central College senior Rachel Garthe has been accepted for publication in the Psi Chi Journal of Undergraduate Research.

Senior psychology major Rachel Garthe had her research paper accepted for publication in the academic publication “Psi Chi Journal of Undergraduate Research.” Titled “The Effects of Self-Esteem and Aggression in Scottish Young Adults on Depression,” her paper will be featured in a future issue. The journal is an international, fully reviewed, quarterly journal dedicated to the publication of undergraduate student research.

Feb. 1, 2010—Several psychology students and faculty at North Central College are being recognized for academic and scholarly achievement.

Katlyn Humphrey, a senior from Lisle, has received the Psi Chi National Service Award. Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology, recognizes students who contribute in an exceptional way to meeting a local chapter’s goals and the societal aims of the organization.
