North Central College offers Verandah course, Chicago on the Ground: Walking Tour of America’s Architectural Capital, with Tribune critic and art faculty.

A spring Verandah course—Chicago on the Ground: Walking Tour of America’s Architectural Capital—is open for registration. Taught by Wendy Koenig, associate professor of art, and Blair Kamin, architecture critic for the Chicago Tribune and North Central adjunct professor of art, the course will be held on three Saturdays, April 21 and 28 and May 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The seventh offering of this popular student Verandah course has some new features, including exploring masterworks of Chicago architecture, from the birth of the skyscraper in the 1880s to the present.

A Culture of Inquiry

One of the key goals of North Central College’s 2007-2012 Strategic Plan is to foster “a culture of inquiry” in which intellectually ambitious students can advance as far as their motivation and curiosity will take them.

A Great Place in the Middle of Somewhere

North Central College is a great place in the middle of somewhere. The vibrant campus atmosphere, an enviable location in a great Midwestern city and connections to one of the world’s great cities—Chicago—are characteristics that transform the lives of the students every day and serve as a foundation for the College’s identity. While “location” offers different benefits to different people, students understand that it’s those transformations that are key to their four years at North Central College.
