A transformation is underway in the main level of the Harold and Eva White Activities Center (WAC). The once closed-in and separated areas are now open and accessible to everyone to use.

During D-Term, the walls between Cardinal Lounge, the WAC front desk and center hallway were torn down and the space completely opened. Wood flooring was installed throughout, walls were painted, multiple electric outlets installed for media use, three new large-screen TVs were mounted, and wiring for new lighting, sound system and speakers were installed.

The deadline is Friday, Jan. 11, for faculty and staff to take advantage of special pricing during winter term on many fine and performing arts performances. Discounts of 50 percent on 10 different performances are redeemable by visiting the box office in the lobby of the Fine Arts Center or by calling 630-637-7469 during box office business hours, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Cardinal football team (9-2) has advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship and will travel to Oregon to face Linfield College (9-0), the Northwest Conference champion and a 27-24 winner over Pacific Lutheran University (Wash.) in the first playoff round. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. CT, noon PT, on Saturday, Nov. 24. North Central won its first round in the playoffs by defeating California Lutheran University, 41-21.

Starting Saturday morning, Nov. 17, the men’s cross country team will compete at the NCAA Division III National Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. The men’s race is set to get underway at 10 a.m. Central time (11 a.m., Eastern). Nationally, the Cardinal men are ranked No. 2 in the NCAA Division III National Coaches’ Top 35 Poll, behind only Haverford College (Pa.). Results will be available at northcentralcardinals.com as soon as possible Saturday.

During North Central College’s D-Term—a three-week period between Thanksgiving weekend and Christmas—students who plan to stay on campus or in the Naperville area can participate in a variety of activities. Some activities start as soon as Monday, Nov. 26, and some require advance registration; visit the Harold and Eva White Activities Center (WAC) front desk to learn more and sign up.

The campus community is invited to attend the sixth annual Bryan House Silent Auction from 7 to 9:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Community Christian Church, 1635 Emerson Lane in Naperville (corner of Ogden Avenue and Rickert Drive).

All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit Bryan House, a transitional housing program for refugee families from around the world. Shoppers can choose from hundreds of items, starting as low as $4; click here to learn more and view a sample list of items.

The North Central College men’s cross country squad heads to Terre Haute, Ind., Saturday, Nov. 17, for the NCAA Division III National Championship, after winning the NCAA DIII Midwest Regional Championship for the fifth consecutive season last weekend. The men’s race at nationals is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Nov. 17.
