The fine arts department is offering a special ticket price of $10/person for faculty and staff to attend an inspirational concert by the world-famous Harlem Gospel Choir at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, in Wentz Concert Hall. The Harlem Gospel Choir is a gathering of the finest singers and musicians from various black churches in Harlem. The choir travels the globe, sharing its joy of faith through its music and, whenever possible, raising funds for children’s charities.

Professor of Chemistry Nancy Peterson was presented with the Cleo Tanner Award by North Central's athletic department at the annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day Luncheon Feb. 2. Peterson, a member of North Central's faculty since 1994, has been a faculty mentor for the Cardinals’ softball program and currently serves as the faculty mentor for the women’s basketball program.

College celebrates Flamenco Festival throughout February

The College’s month-long Flamenco Festival will showcase the emotive, rhythmic music and dance from Spanish culture with performances, dance classes, films, a lecture and photography exhibit. All are free and hosted by the student club Fusión Española, Student Governing Association, the Office of Academic Affairs and Office of International Programs, with the exception of the Feb. 19 fine arts performance by Chicago’s Ensemble Espanol Spanish Dance Theater. Two events will kick off the celebration at noon Tuesday, Feb. 2.

Lindo Lindo, a broadcast communication major and international student this term from the Philippines, took third place in a worldwide video contest for international students. He's also blogging about his experience, visit http://feeds.feedburner.com/study_usa_blog. Lindo is taking part in the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD), a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State that provides scholarship awards for undergraduate, non-degree study in the United States.
