North Central’s theatre faculty and an alumna and student will be part of the Feb. 11-12 multimedia program “Heroic and Hopeful” presented by the DuPage Symphony Orchestra in Wentz Concert Hall.

The second part of the DSO program features Peter Boyer’s “Ellis Island: The Dream of America,” an original composition with historical imagery and spoken word from the Ellis Island Oral History Project.

Psychology and theatre faculty are hosting a noncredit Verandah opportunity and Q&A after the Thursday, Oct. 20, opening night production of “Distracted.” The play will be staged this weekend at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 20, 21 and 22, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, in Madden Theatre.

Carin Silkaitis, assistant professor of theatre and theatre program coordinator, is board president of her own theatre company, XIII Pocket Productions. In its second season, XIII Pocket was chosen to participate in Steppenwolf’s Visiting Company Initiative, which invites young and innovative companies to produce a show in Steppenwolf’s spaces. XIII Pocket and two other theaters will present their own productions in a rotating repertory for a 10-week run, from Feb. 18 to April 25, in the Merle Reskin Garage in Chicago.
