Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) will host its NCC’s Best Easter Gift Event, presenting quality gift items and products for a sustainable future, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, on the front lawn of the 116 S. Brainard House.

Students will have great Easter gift items on display and available for purchase, either by cash or check, with free gift wrapping and samples of Conscious Bean Coffee.

North Central’s Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team competed at the SIFE USA Regional Competition March 28 in Chicago, one of 12 regional sites. The College's team was named a champion in its league and advances to national competition May 10-12 in Minneapolis.

Ten students who are actively involved in Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) left Naperville Nov. 30 for a two-week visit to three communities in Guatemala. They will meet with coffee growers in San Lucas Toliman, do consulting work, produce marketing pamphlets in English, share the processes and products that have worked well, and give formal presentations on what happens to products once they’re in the United States.

SIFE’s Alternative Gift Fair opens for seasonal shopping Saturday, Nov. 6, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Heininger Auditorium and features a film screening and discussion, 4-5:30 p.m. To celebrate SIFE’s five-year partnership with coffee farmers in Guatemala, filmmaker Scott Loberger ’06 will show and lead a discussion about his film titled “Coffee, Culture & Conscious,” the third film in a series on globalized coffee production. The gift fair will be open each Saturday through mid December.

The Union and Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) join forces Friday, Sept. 10, to kick off another fall season at The Union and to help raise funds with a benefit concert for SIFE’s fair-trading coffee partners in Guatemala. The evening of great music, coffee and hearing about North Central’s connection with Guatemalan coffee suppliers begins at 7 p.m. at 129 W.

North Central’s Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) and Jumping Off the Page, a nonprofit for Naperville Reads, will host a series of interactive, family-friendly programs to promote awareness of world marketplaces Saturday, Aug. 28. “To Market, To Market: Global Stories of Freedom” will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Meiley-Swallow Hall, with presentations at 11 a.m., 2 and 5 p.m. Visitors will experience music, audience participation, screening of the film “Lioness of Lisabi,” a panel discussion, book swap and marketplace with SIFE’s direct trade items for sale.

North Central competed with more than 150 teams at the 2010 SIFE National Championship May 11-13. The College’s team of seven gave a great presentation and earned First Runner Up in League 15, finishing among the top 40 SIFE teams in the nation. Congratulations!
