The exhibit is free, open to the public and on display in the Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St. Students Jessica Brewster, Robin Gadient and Giuseppe Pellicano will greet visitors during an artists’ reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 13; complimentary refreshments will be served.
 

North Central student journalists earn Illinois College Press Association awards

Student journalists from North Central College have earned three awards for excellence from the Illinois College Press Association (ICPA).

Feb. 29, 2012—Student journalists from North Central College have earned three awards for excellence from the Illinois College Press Association (ICPA).

The awards were announced at the ICPA’s annual conference Feb. 17-18 at the Double Tree Hotel in Chicago. College newspapers from throughout Illinois, ranging from those at small colleges to publications at large state universities, participated in the annual journalism contest. Entries are judged by professional editors who are members of the Illinois Press Association.

Student who aspires to become a mission doctor recounts visit to Haiti

Sophomore psychology major Joshua Male was featured in the SouthtownStar newspaper, which recounted his recent experience in Haiti.

In December, Male spent eight days in Haiti with Mission of Hope, where he gained experience painting houses, clearing trash from streets and comforting patients in a prosthetic lab.

Educator Janis Fitzsimmons is being honored by peers for helping prepare young teachers to pursue careers serving children in high-need schools.

Feb. 21, 2012—North Central College educator Janis Fitzsimmons is being honored by peers for her achievements in helping prepare young teachers to pursue careers serving children in high-need schools.

Fitzsimmons will receive recognition April 16 during the annual Honoring the Profession gala hosted by School of Education at Dominican University. The gala recognizes a select group of educators who continue to serve students and young people in the United States through the education profession.

Feb. 8, 2012—North Central College is offering three new options in its Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) degree.

The College is incorporating three different programs to allow MALS students to pursue a specialty that suits their professional and personal interests.  The new program options are: Ethics and Public Service; Writing, Editing and Publishing; and Culture and Society. The free exhibit, “Personal Definitions,” opened Feb. 1 and is on display through Feb. 29 in North Central’s Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St., Naperville. Roller will greet visitors during a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

Feb. 28, 2012—Artwork of three North Central College students is showcased in an exhibit through March 28.

Titled “Nuances of Texture,” the free exhibit will be on display in North Central College’s Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St. The artists will greet visitors during an opening reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 9. Complimentary refreshments will be served. The exhibit opened Feb. 24.
