North Central celebrates Hispanic and Latino cultural heritage on campus

North Central College invites multicultural involvement on campus with a series of events celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.

North Central College’s multicultural life on campus is expanding this fall to incorporate a larger celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Though the College promotes many other Hispanic and Latino involvement opportunities throughout the academic year, Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 is devoted to a campus-wide celebration of various Hispanic cultures.

North Central College is among just 86 institutions nationwide recognized in The Chronicle’s eighth annual report on The Academic Workplace. The recognition is based on results of surveys of more than 44,000 employees at 281 colleges and universities.

United Methodist Church honors the Rev. Howard Mueller ’58 with Francis Asbury Award

The Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church has honored the Rev. Howard Mueller ’58 with the 2015 Francis Asbury Award.

The Rev. Howard Mueller ’58, Dr. C. Toenniges Professor of Religious Studies Emeritus, is recipient of the 2015 Francis Asbury Award, presented by the Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry of the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church.

The award acknowledges “individuals who have made a significant contribution to fostering the church’s ministries in higher education.”

The Francis Asbury Award has only been awarded once before in the Northern Illinois Conference, to North Central’s former college chaplain, The Rev. Lynn Pries ’67.

The Illinois CPA Society honored North Central College associate professor of accounting David Gray with its 2015 Outstanding Educator Award.

The Illinois CPA Society has honored North Central College associate professor of accounting David Gray with its 2015 Outstanding Educator Award.

The award recognizes an Illinois educator at a community college, college or university who excels in leadership and teaching and who makes continuous and outstanding contributions to accounting education in the state. Gray accepted the award June 10.
