The summer 2013 appointment of Kate Pope as director of North Central College’s English Language Institute (ELI) was a component in launching the College’s year-round intensive English program. Designed for students whose primary language is not English, ELI prepares those students for admission to North Central and other U.S. colleges or universities.

Recent North Central College graduate Mark Zajac ’12 of Des Plaines, Ill., has earned a spot as a policy fellow in Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn’s Chicago office through the James H. Dunn Memorial Fellowship Program.

“I’ve always been interested in all things international, traveling to other countries and foreign affairs,” Zajac says. “This fellowship opens a lot of doors and will help me to better understand the world.”
