North Central College supports its student veterans all year long and celebrates their service during Veteran and Military Student Appreciation Week.

North Central College supports its student veterans all year long and is celebrating their service to their country during Veteran and Military Student Appreciation Week as part of Veterans Day Nov. 11, 2015. The College proudly honors and recognizes its 25 student veterans and five ROTC cadets this fall by hosting a variety of events for its student veterans and the campus community.

Emily Cramer, North Central College assistant professor of communication, had a book chapter published in a collection titled “A Communication Perspective on the Military: Interactions, Messages, and Discourses” by editors Erin Sahlstein Parcell and Lynne M. Webb. The book is a comprehensive collection of essays and empirical studies on communication and the military.

Staff members participate in military immersion training

Named a military-friendly school since 2012, North Central continues to advance its services to student veterans and trains staff in military services.

With increasing numbers of military veterans participating in higher education, including here at North Central College, new ways to better connect and relate to student veterans are necessary to ensure their seamless transition into upper-level learning.

Based on student surveys, The Princeton Review has again named North Central College as a Best Midwestern College and top Green College for 2016.

The Princeton Review has once again named North Central College a Best Midwestern College and Green College in its annual survey of the nation’s best colleges.

North Central College is included in The Princeton Review’s college guide, “The Best 380 Colleges, 2016 Edition.” The guide surveys some 136,000 college students at 380 top colleges to rate their schools on dozens of topics and report on their campus experiences.

For the fourth time in five years, The Chronicle of Higher Education has named North Central College a “Great College To Work For.”

“The intent of hosting our first annual Hail & Farewell Banquet was to build camaraderie and support among our student veterans and to celebrate the successes of the past year,” said Julie Carballo, the College’s veteran services coordinator.

North Central College has launched its Brilliant Future Campaign—a seven-year, $150 million drive that is the largest fundraising effort in the College’s 154-year history.

Nearly 1,000 students, alumni, trustees, faculty and staff gathered with local and regional elected officials, business leaders and other dignitaries May 15 at a kickoff celebration in the College’s Residence Hall/Recreation Center.
