Although the graduates’ caps and gowns will look the same, they aren’t. This year, the College showed its commitment to sustainability by using a new line of eco-friendly graduation wear made from 100 percent, post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. With millions of plastic bottles ending up in landfills daily and remaining there for generations, the academic apparel manufacturer Oak Hall introduced its new GreenWeaver line, which uses 23 bottles per gown.

Laurel White was named the 2010 Outstanding Senior Woman. Earlier during Honors Convocation, she was also recognized as the Outstanding Student in the Arts & Letters Division and Outstanding Student in English and received the Megan Sweeney Award for achieving the highest level of academic excellence.
