The resolution sponsored by state Rep. Michael Connelly (R-Naperville) commemorates Wilde’s tenure as the ninth president in the College’s 151-year history. Wilde retires on Dec. 31 and will be succeeded by Dr. Troy D. Hammond. The resolution was adopted by the 97th General Assembly, and Connelly presented a copy of the resolution to Wilde Oct. 27 during the College’s Riverwalk Gateway dedication.

Hammond, 45, will become just the 10th president in the school’s 151-year history on Jan. 1, when Dr. Harold R. Wilde retires.

Chicago ABC7 News anchor/reporter Ben Bradley will join John Madormo, general manager of North Central College’s acclaimed student-run radio station WONC-FM 89.1, to present the honors.

The by-invitation ceremony begins at noon Saturday, Nov. 10, in North Central College’s theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St.

North Central College invites the community to celebrate the dedication of the Riverwalk Gateway Oct. 27 as part of the College’s annual Homecoming Celebration.

A dedication ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Riverwalk Gateway, located north of Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, 455 S. Brainard St. The ceremony will occur at the conclusion of the Homecoming Parade and before the 2 p.m. kickoff of the Homecoming football game vs. Illinois Wesleyan University.

The “Mind and Body” exhibit is free, open to the public and on display Oct. 11 through Nov. 11 in the College’s Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St. The student artists will greet visitors during a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19; complimentary refreshments will be served.

DuPage County residents are invited to take part in a Recycling Extravaganza from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 6, at North Central College.

The event will take place in the parking lots behind the Residence Hall/Recreation Center, 440 S. Brainard St., and Merner Field House, 450 S. Brainard St. The entrance to the lots is located where Porter Avenue intersects with Loomis Street. Volunteers will direct traffic and assist customers dropping off donations.

North Central College ranks among the top 15 percent of private, nonprofit schools in the 2011-2012 survey by Payscale.com. The mid-career median salary for North Central College graduates is $81,300, ranking No. 39 out of 303 schools in the private, nonprofit category.
