Dec. 19, 2011—The Illinois House of Representatives congratulates North Central College on its Sesquicentennial in a resolution sponsored by Michael Connelly, 48th District state representative.

The resolution commemorating the 150th anniversary of the College’s founding was adopted by the 97th General Assembly. Connelly, R-Naperville, presented a copy of the resolution to Harold R. Wilde, North Central College president, in December.

The Blue Key Honor Society recognizes college students at senior institutions of higher education for balanced and all-around excellence in scholarship, leadership and service. Nearly 120 students are expected to participate in the three-day national conference Jan. 13-15.

Dec. 6, 2011—A Tellabs Foundation grant will help area educators develop exciting new science demonstrations for children through a partnership with North Central College and ChemWest.

North Central College and ChemWest—a nonprofit networking group for chemistry teachers—will use the $30,000 Tellabs Foundation grant to develop and share demonstrations and other practices to enhance the study of science for up to 10,000 children in area elementary, middle and high schools.

North Central College has named a historic Naperville property in honor of William and Mary Abe in appreciation for their generous support of the College.

North Central College has named a historic Naperville property in honor of William and Mary Abe of Naperville in appreciation for their generous support of the College.

The property at 48 E. Jefferson Ave. was named Abe (pronounced ah-bee) House during an unveiling ceremony Nov. 12. Bill Abe, a 1950 alumnus of North Central, and Mary (Bomberger)—a 1952 alumna of the College—attended the surprise unveiling with other family members.

“Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol” is a funny and moving work that brings the ghost of Jacob Marley out of the shadows and into the spotlight to tell his version of the Dickens classic. Written by award-winning playwright, actor and director Tom Mula, this fanciful tour of Marley’s afterlife and his assignment to redeem Scrooge and himself is a delightful holiday show.
