Naperville Magazine Publisher Leah Rippe has been named a member of the North Central College Board of Trustees.

Naperville Magazine Publisher Leah Rippe has been named a member of the North Central College Board of Trustees.

Rippe has served the College since fall 2010 as chair of the College’s Board of Trustee Associates, comprised of community members involved in many aspects of the College. She has been publisher of Naperville Magazine since 2007. She is also marketing co-chair for the Downtown Naperville Alliance, serves on the Naperville Heritage Society board, is active with the Rotary Club of Naperville and serves on the board of Arranmore Arts.

North Central College has named President Emeritus Harold R. Wilde, who served for 22 years as the College’s ninth president, a Life Trustee.

Harold R. Wilde, President Emeritus of North Central College, has been named a Life Trustee of the College. Wilde served as trustee and president for 22 years before his retirement in 2012. Life Trustees are retired from active board status and provide ongoing counsel to the College.

North Central College welcomed U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) to campus Friday, May 16, for a roundtable discussion with students and alumni about student loan debt. The Senator has proposed new legislation, the Bank on Students Emergency Loan Refinancing Act, to reduce interest rates on existing student loans and to lower their monthly payments.

The study ranked Naperville No. 9 out of 10 cities nationwide, with Cambridge, Mass., taking the top spot in 2014. The list of the 10 cities ranked in the study is available at livability.com.

Begun in 1997, The Awakenings Project is a group of talented artists in DuPage County and surrounding areas, all of whom have a psychiatric illness. Shown art represents the broad range of work these artists create, from casual paintings, sculptures and photographs by amateurs to seasoned works by professional artists.

North Central College’s education department has been awarded a DuPage Community Foundation grant to support a summer school program in Addison.

North Central College’s education department has been awarded a grant by The DuPage Community Foundation to support a summer school program in Addison.

The award will enable continuation of a program provided by North Central College education students, who gain valuable experience teaching literacy and mathematics to high-need students. The grant is part of more than $200,000 recently distributed by The DuPage Community Foundation to various organizations.

North Central College announces site selection for new science center

The North Central College Board of Trustees has selected a location for a new science center.

During its annual fall meeting the North Central College Board of Trustees selected a location for a new science center that will create exciting new educational opportunities for students and transform the campus.

After careful consideration the Board has determined that the new science center will be located south of Van Buren Avenue between Loomis and Brainard streets, within the boundaries of the College and University District designated by the City of Naperville.
