A new album by the Chicago Sinfonietta was recorded in North Central College’s Wentz Concert Hall, a venue known for its exceptional acoustics.

A new album by the Chicago Sinfonietta was recorded in North Central College’s Wentz Concert Hall, a venue known for its exceptional acoustics.

The new album, “Delights & Dances,” is the full-length recording debut by Mei-Ann Chen, music director of the Chicago Sinfonietta. The Cedille Records album features the Harlem Quartet in world-premiere recordings of works by contemporary American composers Michael Abels and Randall Craig Fleischer.

The inauguration occurs during Cornerstone Week, May 13-19, an annual celebration that commemorates the College’s 1870 move to Naperville from Plainfield and the laying of the cornerstone for Old Main. Some events will be webcast live. The week includes the following events:

Expressive artwork by Michelle Lindblom is featured in the solo exhibit “The Journey Continues” Aug. 17 through Sept. 29 at North Central College.

The exhibit is free and open to the public in the College’s Schoenherr Gallery at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. An artist reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29; complimentary refreshments will be served.

Lindblom is a North Dakota-based artist and educator who says “The Journey Continues” exhibit features works through which she visually responds to the environment where she lives.
