8:50 to 9:45 a.m. Student Life: Making the most of the Cardinal Experience
Kimberly Sluis, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, and members of the student affairs staff, will discuss common issues many students face when making the transition to college. Specifically, the staff will share some tips on how you can best help your student know what to expect, avoid common snags, and make the most of their North Central College experience.
9:50 - 10:45 a.m. Academic Life and Advising; How the Process Works
Dr. Karl Kelley, director of the First-Year Experience, will provide information about the general education curriculum and the First-Year Experience program.
10:50 - 11:45 a.m. First Term Experience
Engagement during your student’s first term is critical for their success in college. Learn about opportunities available to help your student become engaged on campus as well as receive a to-do list that will carry you and your student through December.
11:45 am to 12:40 p.m. Lunch
Please join your student at Kaufman Dining Hall for lunch. Orientation Leaders will direct you to a specific area to make finding each other easier.
12:45 - 4:00 p.m. Interest Sessions
Parents and family members can select from sessions such as:
- International Opportunties
- Career Development
- Financial Literacy and College
- Academic Support Services & Health and Wellness
- Families of Student-Athletes
- Families of First-Generation College Students
- and more!
4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Resource Fair and Dessert Reception
More than 20 campus offices and programs will be on hand to share information about each of their programs. While you are there enjoy a sampling of desserts and learn about the Cardinal Camps, our optional pre-Welcome Week opportunities.
