Recreation and Fitness
Even if you don’t participate in one of our 22 varsity sports, you’ll find countless ways to stay healthy and fit—and even competitive. With nationally recognized facilities and a popular recreational sports program, it’s always time to play.
Grab some friends, form a team and compete against your classmates in conventional favorites like softball, basketball, soccer and flag football—or re live your playground favorites like dodgeball, kickball and wiffleball. Each sport features trained referees, scorekeepers and a chance to win the most prized of college accolades—an intramural championship T-shirt.
Looking for a fun way to stay in shape? Group fitness classes make it easy. Well, not easy, maybe—but possible. Challenge yourself with classes like Turbo Kick and core crunch or explore something new like yoga or Zumba. The best part is that all classes are free for students and can be enjoyed on a drop-in basis.
Fitness Center and Facilities
The College’s fitness center offers every tool you need to sculpt your ideal workout—free weights, squat racks, stability balls, benches, LifeFitness weight-lifting machines, treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and stair climbers. Looking for a pickup game in the gym, stairs to climb at the stadium or a field to toss around a ball? You can always make use of our recreation facilities when not otherwise occupied by a scheduled event.
With as much as we offer on campus, you’ll also want to make use of the valuable recreational resources in the community. Take a stroll or jog along the famed Riverwalk, a run or ride on the DuPage River Trail, a class with our partners at the YMCA, or a yoga session at a downtown fitness club. If you’re around for the summer, get in some laps at historic Centennial Beach.
At North Central, staying fit isn’t a resolution—it’s a way of life.
