Alli Purcell Hayes, North Central College assistant professor of accounting, has published her case study titled “Tax Compliance: A Comprehensive Individual Income Tax Return Case Study” in the Journal of Advancements in Business Education (JABE). Click here to view read a pdf of her study.
Hayes’ six-part case study focuses on transitioning theory learned in individual tax courses into tax compliance. It presents tax concepts that align with core material covered in individual taxation courses and is intended to be used as an additional teaching resource after core material has been presented in class. The tax case depicts a fictitious family and their activities throughout the past tax year.
The JABE is web-published by the Society of Business Research and is not affiliated with any university. The journal promotes excellence in teaching and learning by providing a forum for broad scholarly coverage of business education topics and issues, such as pedagogy, curriculum design, learning theory applications, instructional philosophy and innovative teaching techniques and strategies.
Hayes joined North Central’s faculty in 2009. A C.P.A., she received her B.A. from St. Ambrose University and her M.A.S. from Northern Illinois University.
