North Central College junior Storm Styles interns at Porsche

Storm Styles, human resource management and psychology major
North Central College’s Storm Styles, a human resource management and psychology major, lands internship in human resources with Porsche at Lisle office.

North Central College student Storm Styles is interning in human resources at the Lisle, Ill., office of Porsche Business Services, a division of the company that makes the legendary sports car.

Styles, of Lemont, is a junior double-majoring in human resource management and psychology. Working primarily with three other members of the HR staff, her duties have included assisting with an internal newsletter, working with international interns from Germany and organizing staff events.

Psychology and theatre faculty are hosting a noncredit Verandah opportunity and Q&A after the Thursday, Oct. 20, opening night production of “Distracted.” The play will be staged this weekend at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 20, 21 and 22, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, in Madden Theatre.

North Central College is honoring J. Charles Eldridge of Wake Forest, N.C., with a 2011 Outstanding Alumni Award.

This is the third of five weekly installments profiling individuals who will receive Alumni Awards & Recognition on Nov. 11 during North Central College’s Sesquicentennial Homecoming Celebration.

Oct. 18, 2011—North Central College is honoring J. Charles Eldridge of Wake Forest, N.C., with a 2011 Outstanding Alumni Award.

On Nov. 11, 1861, the Evangelical Association opened a new institution—Plainfield College—in Plainfield, Ill., and called upon Augustine A. Smith to be its first president.

Smith was born and raised in Massachusetts and started teaching at age 17. He served at two Evangelical institutions in Ohio, as a principal at the Grand River Institute in Austinburg and as president of Greensburg Seminary.

The Manhattan Transfer will perform two shows of holiday music Dec. 4 at North Central College.

The Manhattan Transfer celebrates the holiday season with “Cool Yule—The Manhattan Transfer Swings Christmas,” a collection of familiar and well-loved holiday classics, Dec. 4 at North Central College.

Two Manhattan Transfer performances are set for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville. North Central College artists Giuseppe Pellicano ’12, alumna Ali Urasky ’11 and Christine Rabenold, assistant professor of art and student art gallery director, are among 17 artists displaying artwork at the Prak-sis Gallery in an exhibition titled “Knockout.” The exhibit runs Nov. 4-18 in the gallery located at 1917 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago.
