Jim Bartelson is senior vice president and general manager of the database strategies division of Farm Journal. In addition to his role as division manager for Farm Journal’s database division, he also oversees the company’s new audience development department. The company’s multisource agricultural database is marketed under the FarmReachT brand. Bartelson was previously executive vice president of business development and strategy with Blue Book Services, a market leader in credit ratings for the fresh produce and lumber industries.

George J. Picha was inducted as a Fellow of the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers class of 2012 in San Antonio, TX, on March 10. The fellowship was established to honor attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their practice in the field of workers’ compensation. Individuals are nominated based on convincing their peers, the bar, bench and public that they possess the highest professional qualifications and ethical standards, character, integrity, professional expertise and leadership.

Dean M. Frieders wrote “Foundations of Sustainable Development: Law, Regulation, and Planning,” published by the American Bar Association Publishing Division. Written for public officials, planning and development professionals, attorneys and concerned citizens, the book describes the techniques used to employ sustainable development within a community or project in an easy to understand way. He also identifies common pitfalls and methods of addressing those issues using readily available methods, such as laws and regulations, contracts and design requirements.

Curt Vollman is currently host of the morning show on WRJN News-Talk 1400 AM in Racine, WI. He interviewed John Madormo, assistant professor of broadcast communication and general manager of WONC, about his recently published mystery “Charlie Collier, Snoop for Hire: The Homemade Stuffing Caper.”

Charles W. Pautsch '74

Charles W. Pautsch is managing partner of Arnstein & Lehr’s Milwaukee office. He’ll maintain a Chicago office to strengthen the employment services for the firm’s Chicago clients. He is the former managing partner of Jackson Lewis’ Milwaukee office and brings to Arnstein & Lehr more than 34 years of labor and employment experience. His experience includes litigating cases in federal and state courts and various federal and state administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the U.S.

Rafeal Williams '95

Rafeal Williams finished his second season as head men’s and women’s cross country and track and field coach at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. The 2011-2012 season was Lincoln’s first year as an NCAA Division II member. During his six years as an assistant coach with the NCAA Division II program at Grand Valley State University in Michigan, Williams specialized with the sprints, hurdles and relays. He cultivated 99 NCAA Division II U.S.

Jim Rausch accepted a call in November 2011 to become pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Muskegon, MI. He lives with his wife Chris and two children, Jennica and Jacob, in Muskegon and may be reached at

Wayne Schimpff '63

Wayne Schimpff participated in the Second Environmental International Teachers Convention as a keynote speaker. His speech was titled “Building Partnerships in Developing Environmental Sustainable Development Activities for Indonesia.” After the conference, he joined the U.S. Consulate General’s staff in Surabaya, Indonesia, to help develop a variety of exchanges to empower Indonesians to develop their own environmental sustainable development plan. This was his third trip to Indonesia.

Mark Myers '01

Mark Myers, choral director at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, IL, has been honored with a Vocal Vanguard award, a 2012 Aspire Award sponsored by FAME, a national show choir competition. The award was based on the number of online nominations Myers received from fellow members of the Academy of Show Choir Professionals around the country.

Jeff Davis '92

Jeff Davis was elected president of the Naperville Public Library Board. He is vice president, sales administration and marketing with Phoenix Closures, Inc., a Naperville-based manufacturer of plastic caps and closures. Davis has been a coach, Cub Scout den leader and has served on the Naperville Community School District 203 board from 2000 to 2003. Davis also served on the Naperville Area Chamber’s board of directors from 2003 to 2006 and chaired the legislative committee.
