Robert Pomazak '01

Robert Pomazak was hired in the St. Charles North High School physical education department and will coach football beginning August 2013. He previously served as a physical education teacher, sophomore baseball coach and football defensive coordinator at Elk Grove High School. He holds a master’s degree in exercise science and health from California University of Pennsylvania. During his time at North Central, Pomazak played baseball for the Cardinals.

Sarah Eikleberry '04

Sarah Eikleberry earned a Ph.D in health and sports studies from the University of Iowa. In fall 2013 she will begin working in the department of kinesiology at St. Ambrose University as an assistant professor. She attributes her ability to realize this goal to Jerry Gems, professor of health and physical education at North Central.

Emily Ruggiero '98

Emily Ruggiero is business development manager for Management Concepts in Washington, D.C. She has been in sales and marketing for 15 years and pursued post-graduate work at the University of Virginia. Laura Botten '08

Laura Botten is a production assistant for US 99.5 WUSN-FM, Chicago. She is responsible for imaging on the station, creative services such as copywriting and commercial voiceovers and serves as a fill-in personality on air several times per month. She has been working at US 99.5 since April 2008 and was promoted to the station’s full-time production assistant in late 2012.

Marcos Mateo Ochoa '02

Marcos Mateo Ochoa has guest starred in several television shows, including Spike TV’s “The Joe Schmo Show,” Comedy Central’s “Kroll Show” and “Nathan For You.” In late 2012, he and his partner Frank Cermak Jr. costarred opposite each other in a feature film with Academy Award nominee Karen Black (“Easy Rider”), Steve Railsback (“Helter Skelter”) and Daveigh Chase (“The Ring”). Megan O'Connor '05

Megan O’Connor is an associate attorney at the Deratany Law Firm in Chicago. She recently coauthored “Eyes Wide Open: The Duty of Child Welfare Agencies in Illinois to Disclosure,” which was published in the Winter 2013 Trial Journal of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. O’Connor is a 2012 graduate of the Loyola University Chicago School of Law and was sworn in as an Illinois licensed attorney in November 2012.

Jackie Mitchell Nelson '99

Jackie Mitchell Nelson accepted a new position at the American Red Cross as the director of the celebrity and entertainment outreach program. Faith Evans '08

Faith Evans was named a centralillinoisproud.com Hometown Hero. She is stationed as a chemical officer at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, MD. Evans joined the U.S. Army in 2011 and is currently a second lieutenant. After boot camp, she completed officer candidate school and chemical warfare training in Missouri. Evans holds a master’s degree from Illinois State University.

Jim Owczarski '02

Jim Owczarski was honored by the Associated Press Sports Editors (APSE) for investigative journalism. His story, “Who is Montaous Walton?,” uncovered a Milwaukee man posing as a baseball prospect who was defrauding legitimate agents. Owczarski’s story also uncovered falsified documents, which led to an investigation by Major League Baseball and eventually an arrest. He was selected as one of 10 finalists along with writers from USA Today, the New York Times, Yahoo! Sports and Los Angeles Times.

Kevin Vodak '96

Kevin Vodak is litigation director of CAIR-Chicago, a nonprofit grassroots membership organization that works to promote an accurate image of Islam and Muslims in America. Prior to this position, he worked at small law firms for eight years. After graduating from North Central, Vodak earned his J.D. degree from DePaul University College of Law.
