Aug. 29, 2010--North Central College welcomes six of the most talked-about authors of paranormal romance in the Smart Chicks Kick It Tour on the College's Naperville campus at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22. The event is co-hosted with Anderson's Bookshop.
The tour will feature Alyson Noël of the "Immortals" series, Kelley Armstrong of "Tales of the Otherworld" series, Melissa Marr of "Wicked Lovely" series, Jackson Pearce of "Sisters Red," Jennifer Lynn Barnes of "Raised by Wolves" and Carrie Ryan of "Dead Tossed Waves."
These prolific writers have organized their own first-time-ever tour, independent of their various publishers. They will talk about their popular books and greet fans in North Central College's Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Admission is free with the purchase of one book by a featured author or $5/person without purchase. For more information call Anderson's Bookshop at 630-355-2665 or visit www.smartchickskickit.com.
The grassroots Smart Chicks Kick It Tour will stop at 11 cities in 12 days, from Sept. 13 to Sept. 25, and features 18 authors, with just six authors appearing at each stop. Entirely organized and funded by the participating paranormal romance writers, the tour was masterminded by Marr with the help of Armstrong, both of whom will appear at every event, as will headliner Noël. Aside from this trio, the author lineup changes at each venue.
North Central College partners with Anderson's Bookshop to host many noted authors and celebrities on campus. Speakers have included Barbara Walters, Tom Brokaw, Henry Winkler, Tim Russert, Bill Bradley, Jodi Picoult and Jim Wallis. The author talks represent one of the many ongoing programs at North Central College to enrich and broaden the academic and cultural outlook for the College and community.
