Oct. 5, 2011—Amber Druien, who graduated from North Central College in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, was the top woman finisher in the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon Oct. 2.
Druien completed the marathon with a time of 2:54:15—31 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.
“I faded toward the end but managed to keep the lead,” she told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I was a middle-distance runner (at North Central), so this is new territory. It was awesome. The course was awesome. The volunteers were great.”
