North Central student selected to exhibit sculptures at DuPage art show

Contact: Ted Slowik, director of PR and media relations, 630-637-5307, tjslowik@noctrl.edu May 3, 2010—North Central College senior Tamarra Love of Naperville was selected to display some of her ceramic sculptures at the DuPage Invitational Sculpture and 3-D Art Show. The event is free and open to the public and takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Lilacia Park, 150 S. Park Ave., Lombard. The park is located one block north of Maple Street and Park Avenue. The event is part of Lombard’s Lilac Time celebration and showcases works by premier sculptors from throughout DuPage County. Love is majoring in studio art with a minor in art history at North Central. Love’s works have previously been showcased in the October 2009 exhibit “Les Femmes Faithful” in the College’s Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery. In March 2009 Love was among 25 art students from North Central College chosen to display their work at the Paramount Theatre Art Gallery in Aurora as part of Paramount's “Aspiring Artists” series. Art students at North Central College learn traditional and contemporary media; engage in analytical, critical and abstract thinking; and learn to communicate ideas visually. Students attend gallery and museum openings and exhibits in Naperville and Chicago, meet visiting artists, enter juried exhibitions and gain an academic foundation for graduate study in studio art, art education, art history, art therapy, arts administration, art criticism and visual communications.
