Gregory H. Wolf, North Central College professor of German, is a member of the Society of American Baseball Research (SABR) founded in 1971 at the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He published a 5,000-word essay on Steve Hargan, an All-Star pitcher in the 1960s and 1970s, most notably with the Cleveland Indians, in conjunction with SABR’s Biography Project.

As a member of SABR’s oral history committee, Wolf conducted two in-depth interviews with Hargan and Virgil Trucks, the last surviving member of the Detroit Tigers World Series Championship team in 1945. These interviews are archived in the players’ files at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s A. Bartlett Giamatti Research Center in Cooperstown, N.Y., as well as SABR’s extensive research library in Phoenix.
