College's recycled holiday greenery benefits wildlife

Print Email Share

Continuing its commitment to sustainability, North Central discovered a new way to take down last season’s holiday decorations. Trees and garland from Wentz Concert Hall, A.A. Smith House and other campus locations were donated to the Willowbrook Wildlife Center to be used as animal habitats. Willowbrook will use the holiday greenery decorations to create habitats for the injured animals the center helps rehabilitate.

Any amount of greenery the center receives is helpful in creating small habitats and making the animals more comfortable before they can be released back into their natural environment. Willowbrook is still looking for more donations. If you have any fresh holiday decorations you’d like to recycle contact the Willowbrook Wildlife Center at 630-942-6200, ext. 0, or drop off your clean greens at the center’s service drive gate at 525 S. Park Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.
