, associate professor of German, organized and conducted a four-day national workshop on language pedagogy, program development and advocacy for German April 22-25 in Chicago. The workshop was hosted by the Goethe Institut, the national cultural center of the Federal of Republic of Germany, and brought together 14 German instructors on the secondary and post-secondary level to address curricular and articulation issues. A generous national and international grant subsidized all costs of the program for all participants, who had to apply for participation at the workshop. Some 40 applications were received. Additional guests included representatives from the department of culture and education from the Consulates General of Austria, Germany and Switzerland, the German-American Chamber of Commerce, and various international study abroad organizations.
