Just in time for Mother’s Day May 8, the NCC SIFE store will open its doors at the 116 S. Brainard House, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting April 19, and will have a variety of gift items available for sale. Products from all of SIFE’s producing partners will be on display and include scarves, woven textiles, jewelry, craft items and coffee. Cash and checks will be accepted.

Also, on Sunday May 1, SIFE, the Sociology and Anthropology Club and gender and women’s studies will host a Mother’s Day Alternative Gift Open House and Marketplace from noon to 2 p.m. in Chicago. The event will take place at the home of Jennifer Keys, associate professor of sociology, and Jeff Rosen, 1205 W. Lexington St., in the brick courtyard behind the house. Alternative gift products will be available for sale and a program is planned. Founders of various SIFE partners, including Keen Harrison of HARAMBEE, Leslie Thomas of WORKSHOP CoOp, Michelle Boice of Beads of Hope, as well as North Central’s Matt Krystal, assistant professor of anthropology, will talk about their projects around the world. For more information contact Krystal at 630-637-5309 or mbkrystal@noctrl.edu.
